Nature Foundation SA

Nature Foundation SA is holding a Community Grand Working Bee at our Hiltaba Nature Reserve to connect local communities and people from the Adelaide Metropolitan area to its nature reserve. Communities are invited to join the Foundation for four days to undertake conservation work in accordance with our conservation management plan. Conservation outcomes may include: Fence maintenance, building maintenance, flora & fauna surveys, weed control, rabbit warren & wombat hole mapping. Communities will have the chance to unite and learn more about conservation in our natural environment. Nature Foundation SA purchased Hiltaba Station in April 2012. The station is now managed for nature conservation as a part of Australia’s National Reserve System and creates an important private nature reserve in South Australia, covering an area of 77,000 hectares (or 770 km2) within the Gawler bio-geographical region with very high conservation value. The reserve has significant botanical endemism (species that exist nowhere else in the world) and is refuge to many species of important South Australian wildlife including the nationally vulnerable Yellow-footed Rock Wallaby and the endemic Short-tailed Grasswren.
