Empowering change for women

Empowering women to make the right decisions for not only themselves, but for their families.

That’s what the Women’s Centre Waitakere does, by providing assistance to anyone who walks through their doors.

Centre Chairwoman Lee-Anne Boyle says every week they see up to 60 women who need help with a variety of issues.

“We assist with women’s refuge services, but it can also be legal advice, self-defence courses, budgeting, assistance getting into work and sometimes just to connect with other people. Whatever it is, we try to help.”

Thanks to a grant from Harcourts Blue Fern, through the Harcourts Foundation, the Women’s Centre now has funds to purchase a projector and screen to help with the delivery of education programmes.

Lee-Anne Boyle says the team operates on a limited budget so every grant is a big help and means they don’t need to turn anyone away.
